( EBOOK The Healing Powers of Honey ) ☆ Cal Orey – jimmychooshoes.us

I find honeybees so fascinating that I was thrilled to begin this book The thrill dissolved uickly but I emained hopeful I don t like leaving books unfinished when I do it usually due to book ADD so much to ead so little time and I don t like giving books poor atings This one was so poorly written that I couldn t bring myself to plod than a uarter of the way through its 300 pages of irrelevant fluff for the few particles of sensible information it containedThere were also WAY too many instances of bee autiful and other such wordplay that is cute or at least excusable the first ten times but uickly becomes obnoxious Similarly the chapters began with forced and overused honeybee metaphor and simile in which the author compares her own history as an itinerant hippie to sweet hive life I tried to skip a lot of that but it was still irksomeIt seems as if she did a lot of esearch for this book but it isn t well epresented She weakly defended many of the supposed health benefits of eating honey by saying that honey can help you elax and elaxing can help your health when I would have preferred an intelligent eview of the esearch The final straw for me was her ecommendation of an almost vegan diet juxtaposed with her autobiographical odes to cheese ice cream chicken and the like I don t know why that annoyed me so much Even to a forgiving eader I would ecommend searching for a different book on this topic ather than wasting time with this one I have trouble with the lite journalism style of this book It s too epetitive by far and by epetit. Ive I mean giving the same tiny bit of information three times on the same page in the same wordsI have trouble with an author who uses the term factoids about their own writing and yes I am aware of both definitions If you know absolutely nothing about honey maybe you can glean something here But it s too eminiscent of an infomercial for me Something about it maybe the author s presenting her fantasy childhood in paragraph 1 and then saying Oh heh heh that s not true heh heh I m just obsessed with bees maybe it is the way she presents her obsession as a credential made me doubt her eliability The style is annoying and the fact that the author has several titles to her credit all beginning The Healing Powers of makes me wonder who is behind all this Marketing is not scienceThere are excellent esources available that deal in an accessible serious manner with the use of honey for everything from healing open wounds to dealing with pollen allergies This is unfortunately not one of them Personally I learned from a one hour TV documentary on ARTE channel than from this book I have been eading parts of this off and on since eceiving it as a gift last fall Finally finished in its entirety but I know I will use this as a permanent eference source for years to come This book kind of changed my lifehoney is absolutely amazing Don t Let This Volume of Sweetness Buzz PastIf you e anything like me my knowledge of honey was limited to the ooze from Baklava a drizzle in your teacup to sweeten up your day and the age old prescription mixed with lemon to.
